Senior Solicitor
Tom has worked as a commercial litigator for more
than seven years. He has advised on a wide range of legal issues,
especially copyright, trade mark infringement, defamation, breach of
privacy, fair trading and consumer protection, as well as commercial and
contractual disputes and employment law. He has acted for individuals
and companies, and has also worked in-house, giving him a broad
perspective on a client’s concerns.
Previously, Tom spent four years working for British
Sky Broadcasting, the London-based satellite television provider and
ISP. In this role he advised all of Sky’s channels and websites,
including Sky News and Sky Sports, on defamation, privacy and copyright,
on compliance issues, and he cleared their content for broadcast. He
also handled and resolved commercial and media law disputes, and advised
on compliance with legislation and industry codes.
Tom began his career at Chapman Tripp in Wellington,
and has also worked in Australia, where he is admitted to practice in
Victoria.
