Service via Facebook - Pick your “friends” wisely.

A number of newspapers have recently picked up on a High Court decision to grant a secondary service order allowing service using Facebook and email. Courts allowing alternative forms of service is not a new development but using Facebook comes with some interesting quirks.

Combating counterfeits: Trade Marks (International Treaties and Enforcement) Amendment Bill

The Trade Marks (International Treaties and Enforcement) Amendment Bill introduces, among other things, prosecution powers for Customs and the Ministry of Economic Development to enforce the criminal offence provisions relating to counterfeit goods and pirated works under the Trade Marks Act and the Copyright Act.
