Anchali’s main areas of practice are technology procurement, development and support, capacity and dark-fibre procurement, outsourcing, services, licensing and commercialisation. She advises both customers and suppliers of technology, media and telecommunications products and services.
Anchali has specialised in technology, media and telecommunications for the last 12 years, and has extensive experience advising both public and private sector clients on their ICT and general commercial arrangements. Her clients have included Government departments and ministries, crown entities and district health boards, network operators, telecommunications providers, media and post-production companies and start-up businesses.
Prior to joining Hudson Gavin Martin (in September 2012), Anchali was senior legal counsel for Pacific Fibre Limited, the company established to build a fibre optic cable network connecting Australia and New Zealand to the United States. In this role, she advised the company and its board on a range of general corporate, commercial and technology matters. Anchali was formerly a solicitor with Linklaters LLP in London and both Simmonds Stewart and Bell Gully (Wellington).
The Chambers legal directory (Asia-Pacific – Technology, Media and Telecoms) lists Anchali as a “Notable Practitioner” (2017, 2018) and as “Up and Coming” (2019).
Anchali sits on the boards of Women in Film and Television New Zealand and Thankyou Payroll Limited.
