Charlotte McLoughlin

Special Counsel

Charlotte has been in practice for over 15 years, both private practice (in Auckland and London), and most recently in-house at Westpac New Zealand Ltd.

While at Westpac Charlotte managed two of the in-house legal teams. She ran the Contracts and Outsourcing team, with responsibility for managing the legal aspects of all Westpac’s third party contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, industry and internal corporate governance requirements. She was also responsible for the Bank’s trade mark portfolio, and for all sales and marketing compliance matters. Prior to that, she led the Secretariat division, with responsibility for managing all company secretarial requirements for Westpac’s New Zealand-based group, including ensuring the smooth running of all Board and Board Committee meetings. Charlotte spent her last year at Westpac managing  Westpac’s customer complaints and customer experience division, which included the Bank’s privacy compliance programme, ensuring the right outcomes for customers and bank alike.

Before going in-house, Charlotte was a Senior Associate in Simpson Grierson’s corporate and commercial team, and prior to that was in a corporate M&A team at Lovells in London.  In both, she advised on and managed M&A and securities transactions, both public and private – including private equity transactions.  She also advised on a full range of corporate governance, stock exchange and commercial compliance matters.
